Shortly after v0.5 was released, Zach Brewster-Geisz wrote to inform us that he released a new version of the Books.app native iPhone eBook Reader. According to Zach v0.52 features the following improvements:
This fixes an annoying bug where a plain text file would scroll to the end of the file for no apparent reason, and also adds more text encodings.

Is Aiphone the same as iPhone? A Japanese company believes it is. Largest Japanese intercom maker Aiphone Co. is currently in talks with Apple Inc. about possible trademark violations.
‘’Our company cannot reveal any details of the talks,’’ an Aiphone official said, while an official with Apple Japan Inc. said ‘’We cannot comment on this at this stage.’’
Aiphone Co. owns the Aiphone trademark in Japan and approximately 70 other countries.
It needs to be added that the legal status of iPhone trademark in Canada isn’t completely clear either — Comwave Inc., which offers VoIP services under this name, appealed Apple Inc.’s Canadian iPhone trademark application and filed its own trademark application (and since they actively used it to market an existing product the law should actually be on their side). That was several months ago and there were no other news since…
However, it’s doubtful that any of these trademark disputes will have any influence on iPhone’s release dates in Japan and Canada — judging from the Cisco iPhone settlement in the USA, Apple won’t mind paying a restitution for the trademark — if there is a basis to the allegations. Which is questionable in Aiphone’s case. And in a seemingly unrelated note, have you seen aiPhone - the Brazilian iPhone?

There’s a growing number of fan-made themes for the iPhone which, if you’ve been keeping up with Jailbreaking your handset and generally tweaking it, have offered plenty of options for personalisation. However, one thing missing so far has been a way to flip between themes while away from your computer; imagine the horror at pulling out your iPhone to impress a lady when your arch-rival whips his out with - oh no! - the same Spiderman wallpaper! Thankfully Greg over at ModMyiPhone is tinkering with an app called iSwitcher, designed to make on-the-fly changes simple.

So far there’s no release client, but eventually it’ll offer full-screen previews, side-scrolling and one-touch install of a chosen theme. Nice work, Greg!
