An interesting thing that was announced during Apple’s “The Beat Goes On” keynote speech by Steve Jobs, is free WiFi access for iPhone and iPod owners in Starbucks coffee houses. But only for iTunes access…
In reality, this sounds like a rather good idea, because you’ll be able to get a new song while you’re at Starbucks (where a lot of us are for our midday coffee fix), but at the same time wouldn’t it be better to have completely free WiFi iPhone access?
This is a challenge from iPhone World to the iPhone open source community — be the first to create a program that would allow for free Starbucks WiFi iPhone access for *regular internet* and get $200. We’re not joking, actually we’re dead serious. You will do a favor for all of us and get some cash in the process.
Let us know if you succeed and we’ll pay up what we promised! (Note: you’ll need to release an executable of the program to the public — it’s not just for us. How will you do it? Maybe using iTunes’ executables to fake a connection to iTunes server while it’s actually accessing the web? We don’t really know, that’s why we’re putting up the cash prize — we would just code the program ourselves if we knew how to).
