Briefly: Steve Jobs And Apple in Berlin Tomorrow

A quick note to our European readers: today's announcement is just #1 in a three part series overseas. Today Steve announced the iPhone launch in the UK with carrier O2, with very few surprises. For those keeping track, there is another meeting tomorrow morning in Berlin, most likely with T-Mobile. T-Mobile After that, off to France. Well have the full story tomorrow.

iPhone Update May Enable Video Output

As each day goes by, an iPhone update seems to promise more than the day before it. Today is no exception. This morning at the UK iPhone event, Steve Jobs brought some shiny new iPhones with him. These particular iPhones were running the illusive software version 1.1.1. Along with the anticipated iTunes Wi-Fi Store and O2 carrier logo, the iPhones had a few extra features not yet seen in the current version.

Erica at TUAW does some quick and dirty math on how many iPhone hackers are out there. Based on 60k SSH downloads, and that being a fraction of those who hack, she guesses 10-20% of all Apple phone users are doing some sort of unofficial cha cha with unofficial apps. [TUAW]

Briefly: iPhone Store Credit Problems

Gizmodo has been receiving reports that, when making a purchase with the $100 iPhone store credit, some users get a message stating that there is a $0 balance left on their card. The problem doesn't appear to be an isolated case. Jason Chen of Gizmodo has personally run into this problem and since come up with a solution. If you have this issue, Jason's advice is to reapply for the store credit and use the newly generated number instead.
