Thanks to a poster over at TUAW.com we now know that the proprietary component cable supports video out. This is not expected to have come out with firmware update v1.1.1.
Along with support, it also features a small preview of whatever you’re watching. It is also assumed that the resolution of the display is the same as the video’s. This would matter for some TV’s, but not all.
Thanks: TUAW.com
It’s also stated that the user didn’t have any luck with using the cable on the iPhone’s dock, getting no option to do so. More on this, Apple says the new universal dock will support interfacing.

Canada may finally see the gadget sometime this month.
According to an insider at a Canadian department store, Holt Renfrew, the 8GB iPhone will come out at a staggering $800. It’s highly unlikely this would happen, since that’s equal to two iPhones in the U.S. If this information is true, this would be the first sign of Canada getting to see it, 4 months later.
Holt Renfrew, as being an unlikely store as it sounds, for the iPhone to start retailing in, does indeed sell higher class phones and PDAs. All attempts to confirm this date had been unsuccessful, as the company simply wouldn’t speak.
Update Not long after the article was published, the Executive Director of VIP Services confirmed that the store would not be carrying the iPhone, and apologized for any and all misinformation. Previously it was stated that if you had called the store, they’d tell you it was coming and that if you wanted you could get a call back when it comes in (in two weeks); But now they say they aren’t getting any anytime soon. Feel free to check back for updates on the possibility of the iPhone coming to Canada.
