iPhone Aviation Weather

A pretty cool iPhone application (although only for certain people) was spotted by one of our staff members. The iPhone program in question is called iPhone Aviation Weather.

Essentially, it is a web based program by WXSYS Corporation, that outputs flight weather conditions (including sunrise and sunset times, atmospheric pressure, etc…) in real time.

So you would actually know where not to fly, all from your iPhone, and personal jet, of course.

iPhone Aviation Weather can be reached at http://aviation.mobi. Oh yes, and it’s iPod Touch compatible too.

Swisscom wants Apple iPhone in Switzerland

Just like any other European operator, Swiss mobile carriers Swisscom AG would be eager to offer Apple’s iPhone in Switzerland, where the official iPhone distributor was not announced as of yet, its chief executive confirmed in a newspaper interview with Swiss Finanz und Wirtschaft financial daily.

Like every telecommunications operator, we are very interested in iPhone,” Swisscom CEO Karsten Schloter said. “It is the first mobile phone that fully utilizes the Internet.”

According to Mr Schloter the iPhone will bring much needed innovation to the mobile industry in Switzerland, but also said that an integral part of the solution would be unlimited data traffic (flat-rate), which “in the future will change the sector fundamentally“.

Official iPhone Jailbreak Released

Things move quickly in the iPhone hacking world. While our jailbreak guide works well on Intel Macs, it excludes Windows and PowerPC Mac users. This official jailbreak from the Dev Team follows the same basic inner workings as ours does, give or take a few minor tweaks. The package includes full (again, lengthy) instructions written by drudge and a few tools to perform the jailbreak. Grab it here. It's still fairly difficult at this point, so don't try unless you're experienced.
