Written by Ken Allen
According to the iPhone dev team, a SecPack has been extracted from firmware version 1.1.2 making it possible to re-flash the baseband of the phone after it has been unlocked. TV Villains Can’t Use iPhones

We found this one pretty humorous. Those of you who watch the NBC show Bionic Woman, you might have caught this. One of the CIA agents on the show owns an iPhone, and later on in one episode a criminal gets his hands on it, and is shown using it. It looks like your average product placement advertising, right? Not quite. Apparently criminals aren't smart enough to figure out how to use it correctly, because he's holding it upside-down.

iPhone doesn’t support IPv6

Written by krove
While not surprising given the lack of uptake of IPv6, I have been enjoying it through the Airport Extreme, which can assign IPv6 addresses automatically to connected computers. This greatly simplifies my ability to access my computer when I am away from home, especially since I can access multiple computers behind the router without having to mess with NAT and port forwarding.<br /> Unfortunately...

How to: Downgrade from v1.1.2 to v1.1.1

If you aren’t happy with the latest firmware, here’s a good way to reverse your decision. The new firmware broke previously jailbroken iPhones so no more third party apps or sim unlocks.

This guide was made by TheMacThinker over at the Hackintosh forums.

Requirements are the need for the Firmware v1.1.1 IPSW file on your computer. There is also an error expected, 1015, at the end of the process, so don’t be alarmed. Warning: This guide might not fully work, and we aren’t liable if you damage your phone(s).

1. Download the 1.1.1 ipsw firmware file from Apple. If the downloaded file has the extension “.zip”, please remove it and modify it to end up with a filename ending in _Restore.ipsw

2. Reboot your iPhone holding the top (power) and home buttons BUT release the top button 10 seconds into it (right after the screen goes dark) and continue to hold the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode. The iPhone screen will appear to be off, but start iTunes if not started yet .

3. Restore your iPhone by pressing and holding the ‘Shift’ key on windows or ‘option’ key on Mac, then click ‘restore’ to select the 1.1.1 firmware file you downloaded earlier. The restore should go through and errors at the end with error 1015. However you will notice that the iphone is in DFU mode with the connect to itunes screen from 1.1.1.

Afterwards the guide’s creator used a program called iNdependence, version 1.2.5 available here. After that, to re-unlock your phone he pointed here, which is another guide.

Thanks: Engadget, Hackintosh
