I just stumbled across Mister BG’s all-too-real parody of Apple’s Product Lifecycle. This is my favorite paragraph:
The haters offer their assessment. The forums are ablaze with vitriolic rage. Haters pan the device for being less powerful than a Cray X1 while zealots counter that it is both smaller and lighter than a Buick Regal. The virtual slap-fight goes on and on, until obscure technical nuances like, “Will it play multiplexed Ogg Vorbis streams?†become matters of life and death.
It’s funny because it’s true. Well done, sir.

Nokia, one of the highest providers of the mobile phone/handset, decided it’s time to take on the ‘tough competition’ in the handset market.
In its entrance, Nokia said it was teaming up with Universal (records) to provide Universal’s complete catalogue of music, like U2 or The Rolling Stones, for one whole year without requiring a paid subscription.
Nokia’s president, Olli-Pekka Kallsvuo, had said, among other things, that the iPhone “clearly captured the world’s attention” (which, if you saw the iPhone’s rise in search terms, it seems so).

The new handset will have a touch screen, and the menu is navigated sliding your finger left and right over the screen, much like selecting an album on your iPhone. Touch screens are getting a work-out lately it seems.
Services relative to iTunes, like called “Comes with Music”, would provide competition for Apple’s music store, allowing users to purchase and download music at will. With Nokia’s planning to ship out 180 million of its new device by 2008, it’s just more 3G iPhone competition, but will it succeed? Overall, if Nokia provides a flexible music service at release, it might be an obvious and direct threat to Apple.

Mophie, a company that specializes in trendy handset and mobile phone accessories, has released an external battery pack called the Juice Pack, for the iPhone.
Although it runs $99 on their website, the battery provides a plethora of additional usage time on the iPhone. An example would be:
250 Hours of Standby (Why you’d want to leave it in standby for it’s entire battery length - no idea, but that’s alot of hours.)
24 Hours of Audio
8 Hours of Talk-time
7 Hours of Video
and 6 Hours of Internet

The Juice Pack is a rubber case for the iPhone while being a battery pack when plugged in. The Juice can be recharged at home, as well, without having to mail it off to a manufacturer. The back of the case includes 4 LED lights that indicate how much power is left in the pack, so you won’t blindly run out.
Any more information you could want on this sleek case is available on the Mophie website.
