It’s time to put yet another iPhone rumor to rest. Just several days ago we reported while quoting CNET France (who started this rumor) that iPhone firmware v1.1.3 was due to come out this past Saturday.
In recap, according to CNET, the new iPhone firmware was supposed to bring flashdrive-like storage support for the iPhone and a voice recorder feature.
Since the weekend is now over it’s safe to assume that in the worst case scenario this rumor had no basis behind it, and in the best case scenario that Apple has delayed the firmware’s release.

Whatever the case is, it seems that we’ll need to wait for a new iPhone firmware a bit longer.

Along with the Chinese Olympics and Web 2.0 apps, the iPhone is among one of the highest targets on the list of suspected attacks in the future.
Because of the growing use of Mac and Apple products, more and more people will be using them - not unlike PCs and mobile phones, making them priority targets waiting to be struck by hackers and the like.
Types of attacks are linked to spam (what’s new?), viruses, and “Vishing” attacks. Vishing is a new one, using VOIP (or Voice Over Internet Protocol), or vocal monitors, to take personal information from you when you least expect it.

People will start seeing an increase in automated calls to their phones, which is part of “vishing”, though if you’re smart, there’s no better defense than an early warning.
Luckily there’s people just as talented working around the clock to counter and catch these absolutely disgusting people, and Apple (despite jailbreaking the iPhone itself) will also keep updating iPhone software to counter it.
