Apple’s iPhone continues its road to global domination — today it was featured in the latest episode (”Sleeping Beauty”) of CBS’ Moonlight vampire TV series.
“Sleeping Beauty” episode of the new Moonlight TV show (Wikipedia) was shown this evening on CBS in the USA (and rebroadcasted on CTV in Canada), and during the episode anyone could’ve see one of the main female characters receive an SMS message on her iPhone — prompting a “view” display screen.

While we don’t have an image of that exact moment yet, we can guarantee you that she held the iPhone properly — unlike the recent Bionic Woman episode where the iPhone was held upside down.
If you’ve got TiVO checking this out should be rather easy to do, even if seeing an iPhone in action seems to be the only saving grace of this particularly boring TV show.

UK iPhone distributor Carphone Warehouse is just now supposedly fixing the situation, seeing as some information was dug up by Mobile Today about the mis-selling of insurance towards the iPhone in UK.
Mobile Today found emails telling all of the details, soon after Carphone dismissed claims the BBC story alleging that Carphone Warehouse mis-sold the iPhone insurance, and stated that it was not “a fair reflection of the experience of thousands of iPhone customers who have received insurance advice in our stores“.

Allegations started on BBC’s Watchdog that staff had told customers that they had to sign a new contract if their iPhone got lost or stolen without any insurance, costing 900 Euros in total (though only having to replace the iPhone itself).
Carphone’s Andrew Harrison defended the actions of his employees whom improperly represented the insurance, and said: “I sent the guys in store an email, telling them I didn’t blame any of them”
Basically, Carphone’s employees got mixed up and sold insurance and iPhones without the proper information following them, screwing over people who thought they actually had insurance, or didn’t buy it. Though it’s getting cleared up now, some people were probably very angry about this, rightfully so.
Thanks: Mobile Today

In medical iPhone news, DrFirst, a company offering electronic prescribing and medication reconciliation services, today announced that physicians will have access to an e-prescribing experience on the Apple iPhone through DrFirst’s Rcopia e-prescribing system.
For the first time, physicians and their staff will be able to perform all of the essential functions of electronic prescribing in real-time on a mobile browser through a WiFi or wireless carrier’s broadband connection on their iPhone (although imagine, god forbid, the WiFi fails while the doctor is using an unlocked iPhone without EDGE connection to save your life).

RcopiaMini is formatted for the smaller screen of today’s mobile devices and allows providers to easily navigate a full-featured version of Rcopia on this exciting new platform. DrFirst designed the application to provide a real-time interaction on iPhone between physicians, pharmacies, and health plans, so there is no need to update or sync the device.
“Now physicians can quickly, safely, and securely prescribe from anywhereâ€â€through the always-on connectivity of the iPhone, the WiFi connection of the iPod Touch, or while seated at the desktop computer in the practice,†said Peter N. Kaufman, Chief Medical Officer of DrFirst, Inc.. “DrFirst’s goal is to ensure that its new web-based, mobile Rcopia experience delivers the same high levels of innovation and usability as the original Web version.â€Â
To be useful to physicians, e-prescribing must be easily and securely accessible. With the addition of the iPhone and iPod Touch, DrFirst provides physicians with a broad set of e-prescribing platforms, including Apple, Treo, and HP iPaq handheld devices as well as desktop and tablet systems.
E-prescribing on the iPhone with RcopiaMini allows physicians to provide a higher level of patient service and safety, streamline practice workflows, and save time and money through the efficiency of electronic medication orders, renewals and formulary checking. New prescriptions and renewals are sent electronically to the patient’s retail or mail order pharmacy. RcopiaMini checks for patient insurance eligibility, formulary, and patient medication history. The application also offers clinical decision support tools to check prescriptions for drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions and appropriate dosing.
Busy doctors, large practices, and health systems require software that is adaptable to the practice workflow and that draws the practice staff into the prescribing process. To meet this need, RcopiaMini for iPhone is designed to be accessible to all staff members, to be highly configurable and to accommodate workflow features that make it a perfect solution for groups of any size.
Apart of Apple’s iPhone, Rcopia is also available in standalone versions for MS Windows Mobile for PocketPC and Palm OS, providing physicians the ability to create prescriptions in the absence of an always-on WI-FI connectivity.
Pricing & Availability
RcopiaMini is now available at no charge to current Rcopia users and can be accessed at www.drfirst.com/pda.
