While the economy isn’t exactly as rosy as everyone would like, there is still some silver lining in this dark cloud according to investment bank Piper Jaffray who is pretty bullish on Apple, claiming that a diversification in the iPhone line will result in 45 million handsets being exchanged at cash registers (virtual or otherwise) worldwide. In fact, an analyst from the bank has tipped off that a 3G model is widely expected to arrive this June, following by the probability of a more significant model by next year which will reside between the $200 and $300 price point. What do you think about this prediction? Will Cupertino’s stock start to fly high all over again?

The iPod mini, when it was first released, obtained plenty of praises from just about every quarter and it still looks ain’t half bad today. Those who missed the boat and want a little retro action can purchase the 4GB iPod mini for $79 minus shipping and handling. Compare that to new 2GB Shuffles which retail for $69 or refurbished 4GB nanos that are currently going for $129 a piece. Perfect for those looking for an entry level MP3 player with a proven track record.

Those of you working with the new 2.0 firmware beta might find this interesting. As some of you may remember, a while ago it was discovered how to take screenshots of the 1.1.4 firmware using a built-in key combination created by Apple, but this hasn't worked in the 2.0 firmware. Luckily a new combination has been found.

The following news release has been posted by the DevTeam! I'd like to say first that I hope this is some cruel April 1st joke (as it is April 1st in some countries); however, here is the news release...
[Update] As hoped engadget is now claiming this as fake!
------
The "DevTeam" would like to announce the immediate withdrawal from the iPhone development arena.
It was anticipated that the DevTeam would be releasing a toll for the iPhonesometime this week, unfortunately it has been decided to withdraw all development activities on this tool.
Criticism of the validity of the tool has been reported in the press and certain actions were taken to prevent the release of the tool on the 30th March.
Due to these actions, certain developers ceased their work immediately, with others reconsidering their position.
On Monday the 31st of March the DevTeam was approached by an unnamed party to sell all of the intellectual property and related applications.
After much consideration the offer was accepted and work has ceased.
The name of the company that has made this offer is private, and the details of the deal are confidential.
Our only comment is that PwnageTool and other such applications will not be seen outside of the lab.
We would like to thank our users for their support over the last 10 months.

Unity Technologies, a 3D game development tool provider for creating console-quality games for the desktop and Web, today announced that the company will support game development for the popular iPhone platform.
The Unity engine is the core technology that facilitates visually rich, engaging 3D game play, whether it's on a traditional desktop, or on the Web at major gaming sites like shockwave.com, or now on the world's leading mobile device - the iPhone.

"With iPhone support, Unity is poised to become the single source for game developers who want to create best-of-breed, 3D-quality games that can be easily and quickly ported to all platforms, including consoles, devices, PC/Mac, and now, the iPhone," said David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies. "Specifically, Unity's support of iPhone addresses the developer's need to create more and better mobile/portable games that support the consumers 'on-the-go' lifestyle."
Unity Technologies has created an iPhone beta program that will provide hands-on support to drive 3D content creation and deployment of mobile games. Game developers who are interested in joining the iPhone support program should contact Unity at iphone@unity3d.com
