Evidence of 3G iPhone Baseband Found

By now it's pretty clear that Apple will be announcing a 3G iPhone soon and most of you are likely numb to all the rumors and speculation. However, Zibri has found a tasty bit of info in the lastest SDK revision seeded by Apple. Although it's only been out for a few hours, the man behind ZiPhone has found references to Infineon's SGOLD3 baseband in the latest beta. We have to admit, nobody on our staff speaks Robotanese, but the reference to SGOLD3 looks quite promising.

Walt Mossberg doesn?t really know when the 3G iPhone will launch - no solid 3G iPhone launch date

Walt Mossberg says he doesnIt was nice to think that Uncle Walt had an inside line on Apple's plans to launch the 3G iPhone in just a couple months, but that's where it ends. The seasoned gadget reviewer has just done an about face on his comment that the 3G iPhone will launch in 60 days.

Apparently, the comment was overblown and Walt Mossberg says that he has no better idea about the next-generation 3G iPhon's launch than any of us do. Walt says that his comment saying that the 3G iPhone is due out in 60 days was merely based on widely held speculation that the next-gen iPhone will be launching in June or July - the same speculation that we've been holding onto for months now. The comment was made during an aside regarding data networks and Mossberg is surprised that the blogosphere made such a big deal about it. [Hey Walt, that's what happens when you're Walt Mossberg and you enjoy the good graces of Steve Jobs.]

"If I knew when this date was, why would I announce it in the middle of a sentence at the Finnish embassy, rather than report it in the Wall Street Journal?" says Walt Mossberg. Good point, Walt. Good point.

We're still going to bank on a mid-2008 release for the 3G iPhone. If we hold our breath long enough, Apple may just feel obligated to meet our expectations…right?

NetBlender lets you control your Blu-ray Disc player with iPhone - transfer movies to iPhone

iPhone to get Blu-ray integration from NetBlenderBlu-ray is the de facto disc-format of the next-generation. With the fall of HD-DVD, Blu-ray has recently gotten a significant boost in market share and consumer deployment. The newest technology for Blu-ray players will soon allow you to use your iPhone's sleek and industry-leading UI to control movie playback and the Blu-ray player itself.

NetBlender will apparently announce some new tech later this week (April 10) that will give the iPhone and iPod Touch. Dubbed BD Touch, the technology will allow networkable Blu-ray players to link their content to the iPhone - allowing you to use your iPhone as a remote control.

But, it doesn't end there. NetBlender says that their new technology will allow you to transfer a digital copy of the Blu-ray movie to your iPhone. The movie will likely be re-formatted for the iPhone (it just doesn't make sense to view a 1080p video on the iPhone), but we'll have to wait for the official announcement to see exactly how BD Touch will work.

Wayfinder?s Power Search goes iPhone, iPod Touch

Wayfinder Power Search goes iPhone

Recently, Wayfinder launched of a web app to bring its "award-winning Power Search technology available to iPhone and iPod Touch users." Wayfinder's idea is to provide Apple products' users with access to "multitude of databases" through one unified search field that covers up to 100 million local search records around the world.

A user can enter a phone number, a person's name or a company name and the Wayfinder Power Search web application will return relevant search results. Through agreements with several database providers around the world the user receives relevant answers for the specific country where the search is being made. The search engine is based on Tele Atlas digital map data, to which information from a number of other premium databases is added. For a limited time premium travel content from Wcities will be searchable as well.

Interested? Well me too. However, Wayfinder haven't provided us with the URL where we could try out the service. Just a press release. It's like they don't love us. ;)

Don't worry — we'll share the URL as soon as we get it!

Pwnage for Windows Making Progress

The project to convert Pwnage for iPhone to Windows is making progress thanks to cmw.

WinPwn will be a full featured application that "pwns" your iPhone/iTouch to allow unsigned IPSW's as well as creating your own custom IPSW.

Ok so i know i missed the weekend deadline but i have been working over time with some beta testers to get all the bugs worked out so we have a smooth launch. It's actually fairly complex since windows doesn't have native HFSX support and apple doesn't open the source code for hdiutil or any of the hfsx utils. So i thought i would try and cheer people up with another quick screen shot. Release will hopefully be very soon. I will post an exact time when i'm 100% sure

cnw has released the screenshots below of the progress on WinPwn.
