My old colleague Rob Beschizza, who recently abandoned Wired.com for BoingBoing Gadgets, has a brilliant parody of my new book, Inside Steve’s Brain. The treacherous bastard writes:

HTC Ad Focuses On Touch Features, Wishes It Was An iPhone

In an attempt to spread awareness of their brand name, HTC has aired their first big ad in the U.S. The add attempts to compare the HTC Touch with the iPhone, focusing primarily on it's touch screen capabilities. Unfortunately for them, this might prove to do them more harm then good, considering the HTC Touch is probably not their strongest device. Video after the break.

Apple Files For Native IM App Patent

A filing for a new patent from Apple has been discovered depicting an IM application that isn't too far off from the iPhone's SMS application. Among the subtle differences in the application in the patent are the ability to start new chats by searching through contacts and view chat histories. New to the patent is an interface shows the text being typed right in one of the speech bubbles in the chat and a different way of displaying spelling suggestions.

More GPS Hints Found In SDK

Stephen Voigt has found details in the iPhone emulator that show that the new software for the device has added support for true GPS hardware. While the specifics of how this functionality will manifest itself remain unknown, it appears that the software is now ready.
