3G iPhone only in Mid 2008?
Although the rumors are abound about Apple presenting a new 3G model of the iPhone at MacWorld 2008 in January, industry analysts don’t quite buy it.
Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster believes that 3G iPhones won’t appear on the market before May or June 2008. But in other, good news, he thinks it’s possible that Apple will increase iPhone’s storage to 16GB while keeping the same price when it happens.

And American Technology’s Shaw Wu states pretty much the same thing: 3G iPhones will only appear in mid-to-second half of 2008. Among the lead factors for that he mentions that 3G components require as much as 35-40% more power than EDGE, and that appropriate components will also cost around $15 more in comparison.
Furthermore, according to Mr Wu, 3G is Ă¢ââÂŹĂ âstill a relatively niche technology and not widely deployed, particularly here in the USA.Ă¢ââÂŹĂÂ. And in that he sounds almost exactly like Steve Jobs.
But, surprisingly, the world does not revolve around the USA, and in Europe 3G is a really requested feature. So the wait might be shorter than expected by analysts — at least if we’ll believe this Spanish 3G iPhone in May 2008 rumor.
