Apple iPhone sales lead Windows Mobile, Symbian, Linux, Palm OS in North America
In just four months since its release Apple’s iPhone became the #2 most sold handheld platform in North America, according to stats collected by Canalys and (surprisingly) released by one of Apple’s rivals, Symbian.
According to the stats, Apple is currently selling more mobiles than the whole Windows Mobile platform combined. Additionally it beats Symbian, Linux, and Palm OS operated phones, but is still lagging behind RIM’s BlackBerry that is currently holding the #1 spot.

It needs to be noted that Canalys evaluated sales figures across whole North America — including such countries as Canada and Mexico where the iPhone is not officialy out yet, and such USA states as Vermont, Alaska, and the Dakotas where the iPhone is not available either. And a recent NDP retail sales report since to collaborate this information, placing iPhone’s share at 27% of all sold handsets.
