China Unicom Wants in on Asian iPhone Action too
Just a day after we covered the iPhone likely coming to China under its number-one provider, China Mobile Limited, China’s second most popular provider declared its interest in carrying the iPhone as well.
VP and Director of China Unicom, Li Zhengmao, told the media that sales are ‘going well’ in the mainland, and because of that, the company wants to start dealing with Apple. Though, he noted that China Unicom hasn’t directly discussed this with Apple, but is interested in it.

The iPhone is only available in China by way of imports and jailbroken devices. Prices for these imports went for around or below 4,000 CNY, and are usable on networks for both of the previously mentioned providers. We will continue to bring you coverage on the iPhone’s official arrival into Asia.
