Chinese mystery: Who is to offer the iPhone?

After previous unconfirmed reports with China Mobile and China Unicom, vice president of D.Phone jumped ahead of the crowd announcing to the Chinese Media, that he signed an agreement with Apple for the iPhone distribution in the Chinese market.

Chen Jingsheng, vice president of D.Phone said that the iPhone will be available in China in 2nd quarter, with the device being sold in D.Phone’s retail stores.

Interestingly enough, Chinese media still reports that China Mobile is still the best candidate for the deal with Apple, and they also claim that it is unlikely that Apple would cooperate with D.Phone.

Some analysts believe that such news of Apple signing deal with D.Phone is a ploy by Apple to force China Mobile to take the decision.

So, yet another mysterious happening of who will provide the great Chinese market with the iPhone. Hopefully the mist surrounding this issue will fade away soon.
