Confirmation on DoCoMo and Steve Jobs’ Meeting


This last Wednesday, DoCoMo confirmed they were in talks with Apple, and it’s almost entirely expected to be related to the iPhone’s Japan debut.

Although Apple was said to be in talks with both DoCoMo and Softbank (two of Japan’s top mobile providers), talks were delayed most likely because of Apple’s terms of the deal, related to sharing of revenue.

“It is true that Mr. Steve Jobs of Apple Inc. and our president (Masao) Nakamura held a meeting,” says a spokesman from DoCoMo, but didn’t say anything more than that, such as what happened in the talks. Despite all the little delays, the iPhone is expected to come out in Japan by 2008, since waiting any longer would severely hinder Apple’s chance of making any impact in the country.
