Apple Will Replace Sparking iPod Nanos

First generation iPod nano customers who have experienced their battery overheating should contact AppleCare for a replacement, the company said today, after scattered reports of some devices with battery problems that cause them to give off smoke or sparks.

Apple’s statement put the number of affected units at less than 0.001 percent of the devices, which were first released in September 2005. The problem units have been traced back to a single battery supplier. There have been no reports of serious injuries or property damage, and no reports of incidents for any other iPod nano model.

Screenies of the Upcoming Nike+ App for iPhone/Touch

The screens within this post are what iPhone.fr (via Gizmodo) claims to be the upcoming Nike+ application for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Nike+ is an accessory for the iPod Nano that has been available for quite some time now, which allows you to track your running times, and more.

See here for more information on Nike + iPod.

Its been known that a version of Nike+ has been coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch for some time now, but not much information, nor a release date has been given to this day.

Looking at the screenshots provided, it looks as if you’ll be able to map your runs (or walks for those less-athletic such as myself!) using a mapping application.

Here are a few more screens for your viewing pleasure:

‘Real Racing’ Game May Be Coming to the iPhone

Firemint has recently made available a video of a racing game on the iPhone they call Real Racing. It is not fully known if Real Racing will make it to the App Store, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t eventually be available.

The video demos the game being played on an iPhone. As you can see if you were to watch the video below, the game features a dashboard-view, and an overhead-view.

What’s more is that this game is supposed to support multiplayer head-to-head racing via Wi-Fi, and feature social networking capabilities (show off your race time results on Facebook, Myspace, etc.)

Have a look at the exceptionally well done video below:

With all honesty, this game looks like a keeper, and would definitely be worth three or four of my morning coffee’s!

‘Toy Bot Diaries: Entry 1? Demo Coming Soon!

Sweet mother! If you’re one of the folks that held off on purchasing a copy of Toy Bot Diaries: Entry 1 because you just don’t have access to any money (like say, me), or just weren’t sure if it was your thing (even after all the excellent reviews this game has been getting), then you’re in luck, lad!

According to Finger Gaming, Toy Bot Diaries: Entry 1 will soon have a corresponding demo for try-outs. It is not known exactly when the demo will be available for download, but just be known that it will be “soon”. This information is coming directly from IUGO’s Sarah Thomson herself.

We’ll definitely eep you informed on this front.

iPhone Most Likely Coming to Russia Soon Than Later

Bloomberg News has it that Apple may be nearing an agreement with OAO VimpelCom and OAO MegaFon, two of Russia’s largest wireless carriers, to bring the iPhone 3G to Russia officially. It is being said that it is very possible that the two companies will start selling the device as early as next week, but don’t get your hopes too high on that.

Apple is hoping that both companies in total will buy over two million iPhones. I personally don’t think that’ll be much of a problem.

It is very possible, that if Apple brings the iPhone to Russia and Turkey soon enough, they just may reach their goal of 10 million iPhones sold by the end of the year.
