From Windows to Mac: a Switcher’s Story من ويندوز الى لجنة الهدنه العسكرية : حكايه الجلاد
Or, “How I Learned to Stop Stressing and Love Mac OS X” أو "كيف تعلمت ان الحب وقف مشددا على وماكنتوش"
In an effort to help bruised and battered Windows users into the kinder world of Macs, I’ll be posting tips and stories garnered from my own switching experience. وفي محاولة للمساعدة على ضرب وكدمات مستخدمي ويندوز في العالم من أرحم بالاعمال ، وانا سأكون نشر نصائح وقصص جمعت من تحويل تجربة بلدي. This first post is my own هذه أول وظيفة بلدي switcher’s story حكايه الجلاد . And it all begins with I, your humble narrator, with my ears utterly closed to the Apple praise of a friend… وانه مع بداية كل شيء لي ، يا المتواضع الراوي ، مع بلادي آذان مغلقة تماما الى التفاحه الثناء من صديق…
“No viruses, dude!” “UNIX underpinnings”“Stability!”… yada yada yada… "لا الفيروسات ، رجل!" "يونيكس الدعامات" و "الاستقرار"! Yada yada yada……
My impassioned roommate is ranting again that Apple’s Macintosh computers are so much better than the PCs I’ve used for over 9 years. بلدي هو شريك الغرفة حماسي الضجيج مرة اخرى ان للتفاح ماكنتوش الحواسيب ذلك افضل بكثير من الحواسيب الشخصيه لقد استعملت لاكثر من 9 سنوات. It’s 2002, and my friend is testing my patience with his sermon. ومن عام 2002 ، وصديقي بصدد اجراء تجارب على صبري مع خطبته. At heart, it’sa simple argument: He’s enlightened, and I’ma lemming with putty-colored Windows XP desktop. في القلب ، it'sa الحجه بسيط : انه المستنير ، وانا اليرنب القطبي المعجون مع ويندوز اكس بي لون سطح المكتب. I get defensive (after all, I picked out the audio and graphics cards myself!) and throw up the usual Windows arguments: more applications, more users, and “I looked at Macs but they are so much more expensive for the same thing.” He jabbed. احصل الدفاعيه (بعد كل شيء ، اود الحصول عليها من اصل الصوتيه والبطاقات الرسوميه لنفسي!) ورمي حتى الحجج المعتاده ويندوز : اكثر من الطلبات ، وعدد اكبر من المستخدمين ، و "نظرت الى بالاعمال ولكنها أكثر تكلفة بكثير حتى لنفس الشيء. “We’re looking for a graphic designer who owns Photoshop and can create professional looking work for us.” "نحن تبحث عن مصمم الرسوم البيانيه تملك من ادوبي فوتوشوب ويمكن ان تخلق العمل المهنيه تبحث بالنسبة الينا".
It’s the summer of 2005. انه صيف عام 2005. My boss wants to upgrade the quality of our marketing materials. بوس بلادي تريد تحسين نوعية المواد التسويق لدينا. Up until now, it has been my responsibility to create flyers, ads, and posters for the firm. وحتى الان ، فقد كان واجبي ان انشاء نشرات اعلانيه واعلانات وملصقات عن الشركة. Up until this moment I thought my Microsoft Publisher creations were pretty good. وحتى هذه اللحظة كنت اعتقد بلدي مايكروسوفت الناشر إبداعات كانت طيبة. I tell my boss I can be the designer that raises the bar - all I need is his support, and I’ll be ready to dive in. After some consultation, with other leaders, he agrees, giving me a small raise to help pay for a new notebook and Adobe software. اقول بلادي بوس يمكنني ان اكون المصمم ان يثير بار -- جميع انني في حاجة الى دعمه ، وأنا سأكون على استعداد للغطس فيها بعد التشاور مع زعماء آخرين ، وقال انه يوافق على اعطائي صغير للمساعدة على رفع الاجور لمفكرة جديدة وبرامج ادوبي. Now. الآن. What notebook to buy? ما لشراء كمبيوتر محمول؟ I immediately thought of the reputation Apple computers had for being the choice of creative professionals. لي على الفور فكر سمعة التفاح لأجهزة الكمبيوتر قد يجري اختيار المهنيين الابداعيه. I remembered the ex-girlfriend who worked at a printing press where all the designers used Macs, I thought of a visit to Hollywood where I watched a friend edit a TV show on a Mac, and of course I thought of my old roommate – the enlightened one. تذكرت صديقة السابقين من يعمل في مطبعه حيث تستخدم جميع المصممين بالاعمال ، واعتقد من زيارة الى هوليوود حيث شاهدت صديقك تحرير تلفزيوني عرض على لجنة الهدنه العسكرية ، وبطبيعة الحال كنت اعتقد بلدي شريك الغرفة القديمة -- المستنير واحد. I couldn’t help but think that if I wanted to be serious about a creative career I had to consider making the move to a Mac. لم استطع مساعدتهم ، لكن اعتقد انه اذا اردت ان تكون جادة في خلاقه الوظيفي كان لي ان تنظر في جعل الانتقال إلى لجنة الهدنه العسكرية.
But what exactly would switching to the Mac entail? ولكن ما هي بالضبط التحول الى لجنة الهدنه العسكرية ينطوي؟ I had to learn more. كان لي لمعرفة المزيد. So I did what any Internet-savvy person with questions would do: I went to a bookstore. ماذا فعلت حتى اى شخص على شبكة الانترنت الشطاره مع اسءله من شأنه ان تفعل : انني ذهبت الى مكتبه. I browsed the shelves of the “Computers” section – you know, full of paperback texts as thick as phonebooks. انا تصفحها من الرفوف "الحواسيب" القسم -- تعلمون ، النصوص الكاملة للغلاف عادي كما سميكة كما phonebooks. It was there I found “ Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual ” by David Pogue and Adam Goldstein. وكان هناك وجدت "التحول الى لجنة الهدنه العسكرية : دليل المفقودين" من دافيد pogue وآدم غولدشتاين. I skimmed it and realized I had found was I was looking for: a book that clearly explained the differences between a Mac and a PC. الدسم وأنا أدرك أنه قد وجدت انني كنت تبحث عن : كتاب يفسر بوضوح الفروق بين ا لجنة الهدنه العسكرية وجهاز كمبيوتر. I bought it right away and started reading it that night. واشتريت من الصواب بعيدا وانها بدأت القراءة في تلك الليلة. I think I was three chapters in when I decided I’d get a Mac. اعتقد انه كان في ثلاثة فصول ، عندما قررت أنا أحصل على لجنة الهدنه العسكرية. As I read the book, I kept finding myself thinking, “Now that makes a LOT more sense!” Soon I was on Apple.com ordering a PowerBook G4. كما قرأت الكتاب ، ظللت ايجاد نفسي في التفكير ، "الان هو الذي يجعل الكثير من احساس!" في وقت قريب كنت أمر على apple.com powerbook G4. Being in the creative field has nothing to do with it, I now think the Mac is better for users of all types. ويجري الابداعيه في مجال لا علاقة له ، انا اعتقد ان لجنة الهدنه العسكرية هي افضل للمستخدمين من جميع الانواع. In just two years I have become a certified “Mac addict” who reads more Mac news than “real” news. في عامين فقط اصبحت معتمدة "لجنة الهدنه العسكرية المدمن" من يقرأ أكثر من لجنة الهدنه العسكرية الاخبار "الحقيقية" الاخبار. When people ask me how I like the Mac I answer, “the best decision I ever made” (please don’t tell my fiancé I say that). عندما يتساءل الناس كيف لي ان أحب لجنة الهدنه العسكرية الجواب الاول ، "افضل من اى وقت مضى اعتماد المقرر الأول" (الرجاء عدم أخبر بلدي وانا اقول ان fiancé). Through these posts, I hope that my little obsession will help you, the recent or potential switcher. من خلال هذه الوظائف ، وآمل ان هاجس بلدي قليلا يساعدكم ، في الآونة الأخيرة أو المحتملة الجلاد. I’m still learning. ما زلت التعلم. In fact, while writing this post I discovered something new that I’ll feature in the future. وفي الواقع ، ففي حين كتابة هذا ما بعد اكتشفت ان شيئا جديدا انا الميزه في المستقبل.
For those put off by Macintosh “fan boys,” I promise I’ll be fair. تأجيل لتلك ماكنتوش من قبل "فان الاولاد ،" واعدكم انني سوف تكون عادلة.
