Aqui no Reino Unido não é uncommon para o toque do iPod ser descrito como “todos os mais melhores bocados do iPhone” com as peças menos-bem sucedidas (o telefone de non-3G, a câmera relativo-pobre, e naturalmente o fechamento do portador) omitidas; Lobo s de Charlie do analista de Needham & de Co que quer ir um mais adicional, de qualquer modo: está reivindicando que Apple deu acima 1.5 milhão vendas do iPhone durante Q4 2007 liberando o toque com seu jogo da característica do almost-iPhone, e além disso soube exatamente o que fazia.
“Se a companhia é bem sucedida neste esforço, forneceria um trajeto compelindo do melhoramento para os 85 milhão povos estimados que já para possuir iPods. E poderia atrair usuários novos ao iPhone e à plataforma do iPod também. A companhia parece disposta arriscar o cannibalization de um número significativo dos iPhones para realizar isto” Lobo, analista, Needham & Co. de Charlie

A busca para iPhones faltantes continua, com analista Sacconaghi Tony da pesquisa de Bernstein que joga mais números ao redor em o que pelo menos olha em parte como uma tentativa de justificar seu calor ongoing para o estoque de Apple. Sacconaghi sugere que uns 27 por cento whopping dos iPhones vendidos em 2007 estiveram destravados e, na maioria vasta dos casos, estão sendo usados nos países onde o cellphone não está oficialmente disponível. Que trabalhos para fora em torno dos monofones do one-million destravados, a cada um estimado gerar 50 por cento menos rendimento e 75 por cento que menos lucros para Apple compararam àqueles registou aos portadores autorizados.

After both AT&T and Apple reported strong performance in 2007, you’d think it would be a time of celebrations for market-weary analysts. However, discrepancies in the figures each company has presented are leading to head-scratching and an increasing number of questions. Apple has announced total iPhone sales of 3.7 million across the US and their European carrier partners; AT&T revealed yesterday that they sold 2 million of the handsets in 2007. With estimated European sales - likely something of a sore point at Cupertino - figured to be between 300,000 and 400,000, that leaves 1.3 million iPhones unaccounted for.

All signs are pointing to an announcement of iTunes movie rentals at Tuesday’s Macworld Expo; that’s the conclusion drawn after a Bloomberg report quoted “people familiar” with Apple’s upcoming addition to the media download service. Newcomers Warner Bros. and Fox will join existing studio partners Paramount, Walt Disney Co. and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. in making their films available for temporary download, priced at $3.99 for 24hrs.

Apple may not comment on rumors and speculation, but even they would likely agree that Jim Goldman may have just scuppered at least part of their holiday season profits. The CNBC writer quotes “a very good source of mine with good connections to Apple’s Asian manufacturing partners” in suggesting that the Cupertino-based company will be releasing the new 3G iPhone by May or June, as well as that we’re weeks away from the Macworld announcement of a $1,500 ultraportable MacBook laptop with 12-inch screen, flash memory rather than a hard drive and 50% thinner and lighter than existing models.

As Goldman notes, speculation about an SSD-based ultraportable has long been churned over online, but based on previous hardware reports and earlier information, the screen had been suggested as 13.1-inches rather than the 12 he claims.
