According to TouchArcade.com, the game Doom Classic was recently submitted to Apple for approval. This will assure us for another good old run and shoot game from the 90’s! Earlier this year we wrote about Duke Nukem 3D. But Doom was of course my favorite in the 90’s. The roadmap of this developer were listed in an earlier interview. This includes:
Doom Resurrection â Bluetooth Cooperative Multiplayer coming
Wi-Fi Multiplayer is currently working in Doom Classic (not yet released)
Doom Classic closing in on being ready for initial release
Plans for 3.0 support in Doom Classic with Bluetooth Multiplayer and downloadable content including Doom 2, Ultimate Doom, Final Doom, Master Levels
Considering competitive internet multiplayer in later update to Doom Classic
Planning Quake, Quake 2 for the iPhone and maybe all the way up to Quake Arena
Plans to do a Rage themed from-scratch iPhone title
Wolfenstein RPG ready to go but being held by EA due to concern about confusion with Wolfenstein Classic
Doom 2 RPG is in works for mobile and that will be ported to iPhone too
Very early talks about a modernized Doom (”Doom++”) release with new levels and story
In my younger years, I’ve loved to play DOOM. It seems like decades ago that I had such a fun to kill those monsters with the most terrifying weapons. Now growing older, I am happy to see today’s release of the Doom Resurrection [App Store Info $9,99] on the iPhone. The first user reviews comes from people of my age and are very positive about the game. The graphics are looking fantastic on that iPhone / iPod touch screen and the game play is crude and violent as it should be [12+ only]. For the very experieced player, you may finish the game in 1,5 - 2 hours. With less fanatics like myself, the game should last hours and hours before I finish the game. Like the big version, the controls let you ‘look’ around freely, however, one little complain is that you walk automatically. If you get used to that, it is a wonderful game to play. So grab your copy now via this App Store link $9,99 or you can read all user reviews first.

According to Kotaku, id Software brains are already playing with iPhone SDK for awhile and preparing Wolfenstein and Doom 2 RPG for mobile phones.
They did not clearly stated that they would certainly develop the games for iPhone but I am sure they will surprise us to invade iPhone gaming sector as soon as possible before the competitors.
Well, smart guys on at HermitWorks have ported Quake 3 Arena to iPod Touch and so, possibly on iPhones. Here is the proof video. What you will see is the impressive video of Quake 3 being played on 2 iPod Touch through the networking mode of the game. There are not much details how they achieved it, but it is a signal that excellent commercial iPhone games will be all around before the end of 2008.
