
So the virtual keyboard on the iPhone offers one main advantage over a physichal keyboard in you can change the buttons and what they do depending on what you need them for. Apple's said that from day one, and they're right, but there are just some things about a physichal keyboard that a screen can't replicate. One user decided to take matters into his own hands and hack his iPhone to work with an external keyboard. (Vid after the break.)

Q: What is going on? A: Fellow blogger CrunchGear.com reports that a Japanese electrician succeeded to connect an external (3th party) keyboard to the iPhone(lower picture). It makes it look like a Nokia Communicator (top picture). The question is why he did it. Since the 1st gen iPhone released last year and the 3G version I now have, the onscreen keyboard has always felt intuitive and useful.

Here's an interesting little tip. We're not exactly sure why you would want to do this other than for the sake of being able to, but Macenstein has found a way to get the default apps made by Apple to disappear from the home screen. While it's a little goofy, it definitely does work. (Here's a hint: you don't actually delete them, you just hide them.) You can get the instructions here.
