Native iPhone App makes it possible to Control iRobot’s Packbot with the iPhone

Couple of clever developers from the University of South Florida have created a native iPhone application to remotely operate iRobot's Packbot unit (that is one of the robots the US military is apparently using for surveillance/urban intelligence gathering operations in Iraq and Afghanistan). So you might not be trying this out but like the native iPhone app developed to control Unmaned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and iPhone Lego NXT Robot, an iPhone app developed by Battlebricks to use the iPhone as a remote to control a Lego Mindstorms Rover, this application falls in the very cool category of native iPhone apps.

iPhone Accessory - iControlPad will add physical buttons and joypad to the iPhone for some serious gaming action

We have seen some interesting native games for the iPhone such as Raging Thunder that have taken advantage of iPhone's accelerometer and can expect games like Doom and Quake 3 to be ported to the iPhone soon. Though all that is exciting news for iPhone users, I prefer the physical controls that are available in portable gaming consoles like Sony's PSP rather than using iPhone's touchscreen and the accelerometer. Some enterprising folks seem to agree and are currently developing an iPhone accessory called iControlpad which is expected to be released soon will add physical buttons and joypad to the iPhone.

Native iPhone App - Synchstep attempts to connect Music in your head to the Music in your body

Synchstep is a native iPhone application with an interesting concept. Synchstep for the iPhone plays songs from your music library in a way they claim connects the music in your head to the music in your body. As developer Greg Elliot puts it "use synchstep when you don't know what you want to listen to, when you don't care, or when you just want something good. let go of some control. let your feet pick the beat."
