Tech columnist Andy Ihnatko (ihnatko.com), also known for being a guest on Leo Laporte’s MacBreak Weekly podcast, has written a guide book, which is apparently not only useful but also entertaining for every iPhone user.
iPhone Fully Loaded shows how to load (hence the title) your iPhone with songs, podcasts, videos, comic books, blogs, applications, photos, spreadsheets, databases and other types of media.
According to Mark Frauenfelder an editor from Boing Boing: “Anyone who has an iPhone should have a copy of this book.”
In particular Mark likes author’s advice on ripping DVDs into iPhone compatible videos. He finds the way Ihnatko uses smart playlists in iTunes a pure genius. And he can not wait to test Ihnatko’s method of converting web sites, email, and documents into spoken text.

Zach Brewster-Geisz informed us that he released a new version of the free Books.app native iPhone eBook Reader.
Books.app is of course the unauthorized third party program for the iPhone that sold at least one iPhone for Apple, and as the name hints allows you to read books in popular electronic formats on your iPhone
This is a major release - according to Zach:
New as of version 1.0!
Bug fixes! Books.app is now completely bug-free, and all features requested by users have been implemented. In addition, world peace has been achieved, Apple has announced that it’s open-sourcing the iPhone, and my children got A’s on their last report cards.
Well, okay, that last one was an exaggeration.
New as of version 0.9.9!
Faster loading of files, and long files shouldn’t kill the program anymore.

Just considering how popular the iPhone is among the younger adults and teenagers (read: potential students), this next free third party iPhone program could be a godsend for some of our readers and a curse for others.
iFlashcards, released by an independent programmer johnnyliquid, as implied in the name is an application that allows you to input any number of questions and answers into your iPhone in a simple .txt text file format and later on go through them — like you would do with your regular flashcards. But on the iPhone!!!
So now when mom asks you why you’re spending so much time on your iPhone you can with certainty say that it’s because you’re studying for a test. But at the same time you won’t have the leisure of excusing yourself of lazyness because your “friend can’t come over and help go through the questions” (”dog ate my flashcards” won’t do either)…

Zach Brewster-Geisz informed us that he released a new version of the free Books.app native iPhone eBook Reader that as the name hints allows you to read books in popular electronic formats on your iPhone. This is a major release - according to Zach:
Books.app version 0.9 features true persistence — it remembers where you left off in every single file you’re reading, not just the most recent one.
Other features include deletion of books directly from the file browser, and also a better copybookdir.sh contributed by a user, which works with books which contain spaces in their names.
Oh, and cover art is displayed, if you have a cover.jpg or cover.png file at your book folder’s root level.

HTML files from Baen Books (webscription.net) were not sorting correctly, despite numbering fixes in 0.8. Fixed. (Talk about an obscure problem…)
