Coming from Erica Sadun’s website, a new app featuring the ability to recognize music you play for the iPhone and afterwards providing information such as artist, cover, album name, and so on.
The fact you can get your iPhone to do so is actually quite astounding, but the program itself is considered beta in every way possible. Many people can’t get it to work correctly, and it restarts their iPhone. You can download the Listen beta here. Miss Sadun’s website inquires people to report back on what kind of luck you have with the program, and also says that if you don’t get any feedback within 30 seconds of activating the program next to some music, to quit and restart the program.

In some good news for iPhone owners disappointed with current lack of video recording option on the device, Polar Bear Farm released ShowTime, a third party utility for the iPhone that allows to record videos.
Although it’s only 6fps at 320 x 627 resolution and saves the output in a raw uncompressed file format. And the video is not captured in any standard compressed video format at this stage, while a post-process option, to convert the uncompressed captured video into a form playable by most media players, is being worked on. Also planned is a higher capture frame rate.

And here are the installation instructions:
How do I install ShowTime?
Firstly at the moment you must have a jailbroken iPhone (just until Apple get that SDK out). There are plenty of tutorials around on how to jailbreak. Then simply add our repository to Installer.app:
• Open Installer, tap “Sources†at the bottom right corner
• Tap “Edit†at the top right corner
• Tap “Add†at the top left corner
• Enter “http://www.polarbearfarm.com/repo/†into the popup, and tap “OKâ€Â
• Tap “Done†at the top right corner
• Tap “Refresh†at the top left corner.
Worth noting is that there’s a 5 seconds recording time limit on unlicensed version (unlimited for licensed users, license cost is $10), but it still beats having no video recording at all.

The publisher of iPhone Camera Pro, Makayama Software, released another new useful program for the iPhone called iSim.
As it’s known it’s impossible to directly transfer phone numbers from your old mobile to your iPhone which turns the migration process into a hassle for some people. iSim provides an easy solution to this problem: the software allows you to easily all your contacts to your iPhone without having to use Outlook or the Mac Addressbook.

Quoting the publisher: “Just pop-in your old SIM card and click ‘All to Phone’. A minute later, you can take out your old card, slide in the new one, and you’re ready to go, all numbers are stored in your iPhone’s contact list. Also ideal for people who have bought unlocked phones, because you can use your existing SIM card and make calls from the phonebook.”
Free features include:
* Import of phone numbers to Contacts
* Export of phone numbers to SIM card
* Make calls from SIM Card.
Premium features:
* One-click backup of contacts to any SIM
* One-click import of contacts from any SIM

Our friend Sergey Odinokov, designer of the iMatrix for iPhone that extends the latter’s functionality with QR codes recognition and is being used on iPhone World, informs us that he authored a new program for the iPhone: iPhone Camera PRO V1.0. The rights to it were purchased by Makayama Software who have released it to the public.
iPhone Camera PRO brings professional digital camera features to your iPhone. It allows you to take pictures of yourself with a timer, digitally zoom in on people and objects, adjust color, exposure and shutter speed.

There are two versions of iPhone Camera PRO v1.0 out there — a free version with a limited number of features, and a paid version with all the features that normally retails for USD $29.95 / 24.95 EURO. But until February 2008 it will only cost USD $19.95 / 16.95 EURO ex. tax
The Free version includes:
* Digital Zoom
* Black & White
* Image Size
* Auto-orientation
Premium features (5 times free tryout):
* Self-Timer
* Burst Mode
* Burst Speed
* Silent Shutter
To be added soon (only for registered users):
* Flickr integration (week 2, 2008)
* Manual Exposure (February, 2008)
* More features t.b.a. (February, 2008)
Since this is obviously a third party program that one would need to install, only owners of jailbreaked iPhones can benefit from these new camera features. To get the software, start Installer.app on your iPhone, press Sources, then Edit, then Add. Next, type in http://tinyurl.com/2t8cax

Using this new iPhone program, you can coordinate between your Mac and iPhone remotely, accessing important files and doing things you normally would have to be at your computer for.

For example: If you wanted to watch a movie, but it was either too big, or you simply kept it on your Mac for another reason - you could stream that movie or music through your iPhone relatively painlessly.
Other features include:
Screen capture with mouse click and basic typing support
Simple iTunes Remote control
Browse your files
Run applescript remotely
iSight image capture
Basic Spotlight search
Easily create and add more apps
The program (ofcourse) comes with security issues, like the fact that it runs under the same priveleges as the user running it, and it’s also considered a developer’s demo to start interest in the project, currently.
You can read up on how to install it, as well as see more pictures here, on the Telekinesis website.
