iPhone Clone Gets TV Spot in China

This is probably as far as any iPhone ‘clone’ has gone, besides the $1 iPhones in Canada.

This time, an iPhone clone is advertised in a TV spot in China, and at the same time, offers features the iPhone and iPod Touch don’t even have. One of which is bluetooth - yes, they both support bluetooth, but not with a range of 50m as this one supposedly does.

Another is an imbedded “G-Sensor”, which allows shaking of the phone to change applications, or answering phone calls.

Overall, the device sells for $270, but is it worth it, and is it a scam? We’ll see if anything else pops up. Below is a video of the actual commercial.

Meizu MiniOne / M8 iPhone ripoff prototype photos leaked, Meizu M9 coming in 2009 ?

Meizu, a Chinese producer of electronics whose sole job seems to be producing iPhone and iPod Touch fakes, is apparently getting close to releasing its Apple ripoff Meizu MiniOne. Looks like the company has already got a prototype of the new handset, as some pictures of it were already leaked on the company’s forums.

The design features of the prototype model are said to be developed thanks to the feedback from the early M8 model shots. It looks slightly different from the previously available photos, and that’s what makes it less similar to an iPhone and more similar to the iPod Touch as well.
Meizu M8 prototype

But most likely not many people will be able to get their hands on a Meizu M8/Minione, as due to obvious violation of Apple’s copyright it is expected to be available only on the Chinese market.

Furthermore, according to the source of these shots the company expects to launch a successor to the Meizu Minione/M8 in 2009, appropriately codenamed Meizu M9.

TomTom GPS for iPhone is Fake

As much as some iPhone users wish for having a satellite nav in their iPhone the news on TomTom’s working on it is confirmed to be only a rumour now.
The engaget.com Internet blog inquired more deeply into the matter and found out that their informer is already known from his penchant to iPhone fakes. The picture showing an exemplary screen of an iPhone with TomTom’s navigation appeared to be a fake one as well.

Obviously there is a big demand for this sort of service being offered by an iPhone. Therefore we still hope for Apple to develop some sort of Sat Nav for it’s “God’s Machine”.

The Polish clone of iPhone/iPod touch?

A polish company offering MP3 players has got a nice clone of iPod touch in its offer. Laberg SMART is a fully fledged 4GB media player with integrated FM radio. It supports MP3, WAV, WMA, FLAC, AVI formats, and allows to browse pictures and read e-Books.

Thanks to Dual Core technology, based on Rockchip and Wolfson solution, that media player offers good sound quality and high built-in speaker output. The user can navigate between different functions by using an iPhone/iPod touch-like touchscreen, or pressing three menu buttons.

BTL M2801: iPhone clone, but not quite

After the ridiculous amounts of iPhone fakes we’ve seen (we covered the latest iPhone fake just yesterday), there is yet another one. BTL M2801 appears to be an iPhone clone, although it is just a media player featuring 2.8 inch, 320*240 pixels, 520K full-colour TFT touch screen, which already sets it apart from some of its competitors.

It also includes integrated flash memory from 128 MB to 4 GB, Mini SD slot, 2MP camera, built-in rechargeable Li-polymer battery, MP3/WMA/WAV audio, and AVI/WMV video file playback.

This looks like one of the better iPhone clones on the market. It wouldn’t be embarrassing to show it to your friends, but try to stay silent about its phone capabilities.
