iPhone v1.1.3 hardware unlock from Vietnam?

iPhone World Ads: iPhone Accessories - Free iPhone - Unlimited iPhone Downloads - iPhone Games - Free iPod Touch

Almost stepping on the heels of iPhone v1.1.2 hardware unlock, the same folks that are behind one of the methods now claim to have already unlocked iPhone firmware v1.1.3.

Information and supporting photos posted on GSM Vietnam forum by its administrators state that iPhone v1.1.3 was indeed unlocked, using a hardware unlock method.

According to TA_MOBILE, one of the authors, this method works by downgrading the firmware to v1.1.2 while using baseband 4.03.13.

While we cannot confirm that this method works since instructions were not published as of yet, TA_MOBILE credits George Hotz and Hackint0sh iPhone hackers for their contribution, which does make this claim more credible.

Another iPhone v1.1.2 hardware unlock

iPhone World Ads: iPhone Accessories - Free iPhone - Unlimited iPhone Downloads - iPhone Games - Free iPod Touch

In news we’ve missed — it seems that George Hotz actually wasn’t the first person to make a full hardware unlock of iPhone firmware v1.1.2.

Several weeks ago the administrator of GSM Vietnam forum posted a note and a photo of what he claims to be a fully hardware-unlocked iPhone running v1.1.2 firmware.

While we cannot confirm this information independently, if one person can unlock the iPhone v1.1.2 through hardware method, then probably another one should be able to as well.

iPhone firmware v1.1.2 hardware unlock from George Hotz

iPhone World Ads: iPhone Accessories - Free iPhone - Unlimited iPhone Downloads - iPhone Games - Free iPod Touch

George Hotz, the same teenage wonder that was the first person in the world to unlock the iPhone (and even got a cool Nissan 350Z for it), is at it again with an iPhone firmware v1.1.2 hardware unlock method (it’s interesting to note that George does not believe that iPhone firmware v1.1.2 can be unlocked by software methods anytime soon).

As was the case with his original iPhone unlocking method, this is not for the faint hearted and/or technically challenged. Failure to follow or precisely execute instructions will certainly result in a premature death for your iPhone. And even if you follow everything, you might still brick it. You’ve been warned.

According to George….

It is a hardware method to downgrade the bootloader, and I am assuming you are familiar with the old hardware method, so I won’t repeat steps. You need to have a 1.1.2 4.6 phone for this to work. If you upgraded to 1.1.3, have fun waiting for 1.1.4!

First download this pack, you will need these files. This includes the NEW secpack, a new ieraser, a new testcode.bb, and a new iunlocker.

1. Copy all the files to a directory on your phone. It is imperative you do not shut off the phone after ieraser, or you cannot restore wifi, since the only fls which works on 4.6 is 1.1.3 Install mobileterminal before you begin, in case you lose wi-fi. Also I advise doing this on 1.0.2, since resetting the baseband doesn’t cause problems.

2. Run ienew. This is ieraser, and it erases your 1.1.2 firmware to allow the testpoint to work.

3. Find an old 3.9 nor dump and create a file called “nor” with the first 0×20000 bytes of the old nor dump. This is the 3.9 bootloader.

4. Copy “nor” into the folder and run iunew. This is iunlocker and runs just like the old one. You will need the A17 testpoint on before running this. See Step 3 for info on this testpoint. If you restarted and lost wi-fi, it is fine. Just run it from mobileterminal.

Note: “bbupdater -v” shouldn’t work at this point, since your phone has no firmware, just a bootloader.

5. The bootloader is now 3.9!!! Run bbupdater -f or restore phone with the AnySimmable firmware of your choice. It seems people are having the most luck with the firmware from 1.1.2

6. Run AnySim and, as usual, enjoy your unlocked iPhone.

iPod Touch v1.1.3 firmware jailbreaked, iPhone next?

iPhone World Ads: iPhone Accessories - Free iPhone - Unlimited iPhone Downloads - iPhone Games - Free iPod Touch

Our sister site iPod Touch World reports that iPod Touch firmware v1.1.3 was apparently already broken into.

A video posted online (which you can see below) shows some new iPod Touch firmware v1.1.3 features along with installer.app running, which could mean only two things — iPod Touch v1.1.3 was already jailbreaked. Or someone made a very clever fake video.

Whichever the case is, this gives hope that iPhone’s v1.1.3 firmware will be just as easy to break into and we could see compatible jailbreak software very soon.

The iPhone Trojan: something more serious still to come?

iPhone World Ads: iPhone Accessories - Free iPhone - Unlimited iPhone Downloads - iPhone Games - Free iPod Touch

Security experts are seriously concerned with the first iPhone OSX scareware-MacSweeper that we recently reported on, which is basically a Mac version of Cleanator.

As mentioned before the trojan removes third party iPhone applications if you try to remove it. However, it works only on these iPhones that have been modified or opened through a security hole in the system (jailbreaked). Experts’ main concern is not the MacSweeper itself, but more dangerous attacks that can be performed by hackers after they gather more information and gain more experience using that trojan.

As Dian Schaffhauser, an editor at Web Worker Daily writes: “The fear is hackers may be experimenting and gathering research that will increase the dangers of a more malicious attack in the near future.”

Furthermore, she writes that the iPhone should be left on the dresser in the morning. She also offers several reasons why the device isn’t a good corporate tool.
