So today is December 7th, and today the iPhone was supposed to come out in Canada. So you might want to check your Rogers store. Well, not really. Because it’s time to put another rumor to rest — we’ll call it The Great Canadian December 7th iPhone Launch Rumor.
In recap, according to an image designed to look like an actual Rogers ad that spread over the blogosphere at the end of October, the iPhone was supposed to come out in Canada on December 7th 2007 (being today), distributed by Rogers. Obviously this did not happen, and Rogers is happily advertising the SonyEricsson “8GB Music Phone” and the LG Shine.
So the next logical question is when will we know some information about the actual release date, and the answer is probably at Macworld 2008 in January, along with the rest of the world (USA, UK, Germany and France excluded). In the meantime our Canadian readers can help themselves to some one dollar iPhones instead.

After previous unconfirmed reports with China Mobile and China Unicom, vice president of D.Phone jumped ahead of the crowd announcing to the Chinese Media, that he signed an agreement with Apple for the iPhone distribution in the Chinese market.
Chen Jingsheng, vice president of D.Phone said that the iPhone will be available in China in 2nd quarter, with the device being sold in D.Phone’s retail stores.
Interestingly enough, Chinese media still reports that China Mobile is still the best candidate for the deal with Apple, and they also claim that it is unlikely that Apple would cooperate with D.Phone.
Some analysts believe that such news of Apple signing deal with D.Phone is a ploy by Apple to force China Mobile to take the decision.
So, yet another mysterious happening of who will provide the great Chinese market with the iPhone. Hopefully the mist surrounding this issue will fade away soon.

According to a claim by CNET France that says the update will come by Saturday, the latest firmware might also bring some new features to the playground.
Claims of new features include a ‘disk mode’ (used for storing data on the iPhone), and a voice recording mode for use of — you guessed it — capturing voice.
One thing the iPhone lacked was the ability to use it as a flashdrive. Now, with v1.1.3, it seems you’ll gain some of that ability, though while it acts like an iPod, it was said that you can’t simply drag and drop music onto and off of the device.
No further information such as recording times or space consumption were mentioned for voice recording.
One can only wonder how long it will also be, unless this update includes decent protection, until it’s hacked. The last two updates were cracked within days of release.
As for truth on the actual release of the the firmware, Saturday is on-par with previous releases, as our source says, and is as likely as ever a time-line.

Thanks to our reader, Douglas Michael, who’s developed a way to unlock unlimited data access for you Canadian iPhone users, we bring you some information on how to do this.
Normally you’re restricted to a contract with Rogers for data plan transfers (though in Canada, the iPhone is only available unlocked as it was not officially released here yet) and a limited amount of access, around 50+MB on regular Rogers data plan.
Mr. Michael has found out how to bypass this limit, using Bell’s network, and it’s a semi complicated process involving a cheap contract with Rogers Wireless, and Bell.ca. The list of required items is a decent one, as well, including an Apple AirPort Express and a wireless modem by Bell.

There is a way you can get unlimited data access for the iPhone in Canada. While Rogers gets around / or not to providing the iPhone and a reduced data rate that satisfies Apple and the rest of us there is a way to get Unlimited Data for the iPhone in Canada. says the creator.
1. Buy an iPhone and unlock it.
2. Get the cheapest Rogers cellular account with Rogers that you can or one that suits your talk time, not your data time.
3. Sign up with Bell.ca for portable Internet Unplugged. It comes with a portable internet modem.
(By the way don’t go with Rogers Portable Interent because, surprise, surprise, it’s not unlimited like Bells unlimited.)
4. Buy a DC to AC car Adapter with at least two power outlets. Make sure you get enough wattage.
5. Buy an Apple AirPort Express.
6. Plug the Bell portable modem into one of the DC to AC car Adapter electrical outlets.
7. Plug a network cable into both the AirPort Express and Bell portable internet modem.
8. Plug the Bell portable internet modem AC adapter into the modem and also into the DC to AC car Adapter.
9. You might want to setup your wireless Wi-Fi Apple AirPort Express with your laptop to add security.
10. Connect to your wireless Wi-Fi Apple AirPort Express with your iPhone or iPod Touch.
