While Apple continues to break our jailbreaks and 3rd party apps, they are working on the iPhone to make it faster and more battery efficient. 3rd Party Apps SDK gets official

Chances are not good that this SDK will be made available to everyone though. I am sure it wouldn’t take much to get a copy, you’d just have to form yourself into a company, and then apply, and they’d probably send you one.

iphone apps

So hopefully one of the iPhone Dev Team guys can either incorporate the iPhone Dev Team, in some other fashion, make a legitimate business out of it and they can hire any number of hackers to work from the comfort of their home to develop great apps for the iPhone, for free. The only difference would be, you wouldn’t have to hack your iPhone to use them

Rumor: Apple rolling out their own library of Web 2.0 web apps?

Like I said, the two are totally irrelevant, but neither one is worthy of a separate press conference, so I guess the combination of the two announcements could kind of make sense in that respect.

iPhone third-party application installer

They aren’t going to open it up to just anyone, but well established companies, especially those well known for producing mobile apps are rumored to have been getting contacted by Apple recently. Its already fairly well known that EA is porting its entire line of iPod games to the new iPhone/iPod platforms so they can be loaded onto those devices, but there is rumored to be a lot more companies being approached.

Gearlog’s interview with Apple’s Joswiak clears up iPod Touch details

Lets get one thing straight, according to an update on Gearlog, Joswiak wanted to make clear that when he said “not hate”, it doesn’t mean “like” or “support” in reference to native software development for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Keep in mind that future software updates may or may not “reset” iPhones and touch resulting in whipping out native third-party apps. Apple doesn’t oppose third-party apps and/or hacks but the company will not support them either. And don’t expect games on the iPod Touch anytime soon.
