Pwnage tool for Windows launches in beta form

The now infamous Pwnage tool has been enjoying making it’s way around the mac for some time now. Many people have already taken advantage of this great application on their Mac, and done some serious iPhone pwning. Until now, Windows users that do not have access to a Mac have been out of luck, but that is about to change.

The iPhone Dev Team has announced the availability of the iPhone Pwnage tool for Windows. This is great news for the Microsoft faithful among us. However, unfortunately for the Microsoft faithful among us, the Pwnage Tool for Windows is in beta, really beta. Many features, including unlocking, are not available in this version. There is scheduled to be a final release here in the next few days.

If you are brave enough to try this, here is where to get it. If you do give it a shot be sure to let us know how it goes!

iPhone 1.1.3 Jailbreak software released

After suspicions that the rumored iPhone 1.1.3 Jailbreak solution was a hoax, the Dev Team have pleased us all by rolling out a working patchfor the latest iPhone firmware that leaves unlocked handsets compatible with any SIM and, thanks to some clever on-the-fly adaptation of Apple’s official firmware update, doesn’t wipe any data from your cellphone.  Available in Mac and PC versions, the software downloads the 1.1.3 upgrade, decompresses is, Jailbreaks and adds Installer.app to it, then flashes the iPhone with the modified version.  After a reboot you not only have all of the latest Apple features - including multi-recipient SMS and assisted-GPS - but the ability to load third-party applications in advance of the official SDK.

iPhone v1.1.3 Destroys — Everything

Or so we think. I’ve been checking out this video on Gizmodo of the apparent v1.1.3 iPhone firmware update that Apple should be releasing soon. The video shows a guy moving around the iPhone’s icons changing the order. Apparently the updated firmware version breaks all unlocks, and jailbreak apps, and cannot be cracked this time around because iTunes installs Apple’s private key.

Hit the cut to read why I think the video is fake, and indeed does not show the real v1.1.3.

Unlocking Attempt Fails

Exploding iPhoneOver at the Hackint0sh forums, a couple of people decided to unlock their iPhone, little did they know, opening their phone after completing the software, was not such a great idea. At least they now have a door stop, brick, frisbee, and tons of other useful tasks.

We were so happy, all the software part was done, so we started opening the iphone. The antenna cover was a bit tricky but eventually it came off. Then we started to open the metal cover (after taking out the 3 screws) and PUFF, up it went in smoke, I think my collegue must have touched something. It literally went up in black smoke. I was so hot that when I tried to pick it up I burnt my fingers. So, this is for sure the most difficult part of the whole process. I don’t know what he did, as I had just stepped out of the room to fetch something when I heard a scream…they got such a fright.
