O2 Ireland Confirms Two-Step Activation Process For iPhone 3G

O2 Ireland has confirmed that the activation process for the iPhone 3G will be a two-step process for their customers. As was said earlier by an O2 UK employee, customers will have the opportunity to sign up for contracts in advance of the July 11th launch, so that when they arrive that day, they can simply have the already activated SIM card placed into the iPhone, which they then go home and sync with the latest version of iTunes.

UK Apple Stores May Not Sell The iPhone 3G On July 11

According to an industry publication, Apple Stores in the UK may not be able to sell the iPhone 3G when the July 11th launch date rolls around. The issue stems from the fact that their new policy requires customers to sign up for a contract in-store instead of through iTunes at home. However, Apple UK stores are not able to run credit checks, and store staff have yet to be trained in getting customers signed up for contracts.
