Sources close to Apple have tentatively revealed that numerous shipments of new Apple products, including Time Capsule and possibly the new iPod Shuffle 2GB, are due tomorrow. The latest idea being flung around indicates that the Macbook Pro will finally be released on Tuesday, shipping immediately.
I must be honest, I’m beginning to lose faith that an update is even coming at all. This is the last Tuesday in February, and that was the indicated release window. So will the new Macbook Pro finally be unleashed tomorrow? Let’s hope so…
Best Buy have a registered shipment of the following model numbers, which are possibly the new version of the Macbook Pro:
MB402LL/A - $1999
MB403LL/A - $2499
MB404LL/A - $2799
These price points are identical to the current models, but many Best Buy employees have indicated that the actual ‘in stock’ date is 3rd March. If this is the case, we have an even longer wait on our hands.

Numerous Apple resellers and stores are reporting shortages of the notebook, long overdue a refresh. These figures support the theory that we will see a product refresh tomorrow, 18th February, a Tuesday, which is the usual day for Apple updates.
Even Best Buy, a huge corporation and Apple partner, has completely run out of the 15 inch models, and has stated a shipping date of 1-2 weeks. The decreased re-stocking of stores is a telltale sign that the Macbook Pro refresh is imminent. How soon will it come?

As is the norm, no Apple products bearing the 'pro' affix where released at Macworld 2008. However, most Apple fans were suprised by the lack of even an announcement concerning the Macbook Pro, long due for a refresh. This shock was reinforced by the quiet, but considerable, Mac Pro update in the week running up to Macworld. If I recall correctly, Apple was quoted as saying that they 'wanted to get the hardware refreshes out of the way before Macworld'. Where then, was the Macbook Pro, a beloved laptop which is probably their best portable to date.
Apple's last quarter figures were the highest ever, in the history of the company, and the figures must have had Bill Gates and Michael Dell weeping. And whilst large amounts of profit were undoubtedly created by the iPhone and iPod lines, the Macbook lines are the flagship for this company, consistently drawing in a flow of money through their fusion of looks and capabilities. The current generation are still brilliant products (my Macbook Pro is a workhorse if I ever saw one), but they've recently lost a little bit of their edge, through the simple fact that they're getting on a bit.
Rumours have been literally thrown around concerning the Pro update, most recently the proposition of a multi-touch trackpad (as in the Air), SSD Drive options, processor bumps and all the normal ones (multi-touch screen etc). My main hope is that the laptop enclosure is finally updated. I love the way it currently looks (sleek, defined, businesslike, just as a 'pro' should), but it needs a refresh- the current form factor has been used since the Powerbook Days, and its on its last legs.
Please, please, please, Apple, release something special which will quash my fears over your spiraling share price. Put to my fears to rest...
