Rumor: Costco To Sell $149 iPhone 3Gs In January?

Author and analyst Trip Chowdry is saying that Apple may begin selling iPhone 3Gs through U.S. retail chain Costco for $149 starting in January of next year. We don't have his report, but it's been noted that it mentions the bleak economic outlook and it's negative effect on the tech industry. It should be kept in mind that while they often guess correctly, analysts don't necessarily know everything.

NDP Group: iPhone Top US Cell Phone In Q3

It seems like just yesterday that we heard that the iPhone had become the second most popular handset today in the US, right behind Motorola's RAZR. Now a study by NPD Group finds that during Q3 this year the mighty Motorola king was finally dethroned and replaced by the Appleocracy that is the iPhone.

Apple Production Cut Confirmed

UBS analyst Maynard Um corroborated claims from earlier this week that Apple would be cutting their production. Friedman Billings Ramsey analyst Craig Berger stated that Apple would be cutting their iPhone 3G production by a 40%. Now Um has found evidence in the supply chain that iPhone levels are down by 1.7 million to 2.3 million.

SingTel Reports 170k 3G Sales, Subsidies Digging Into Earnings

SingTel, the official iPhone carrier in Singapore, Australia, and the Philippines and India, has announced that they have sold 170,000 iPhones since they launched the handset in early July and late August in their respective countries. Not all the news is good, however. They're claiming now that the heavy subsidies they're providing are really starting to dig into their profits.
