Apple Making Changes To iTunes Store, Software Update Immanent?

German iPhone site iPhone-Ticker.de stumbled upon an interesting find recently. It turns out that Apple has been tinkering with their iTunes Store servers in anticipation of the next software release, or at least that's what they think.

2.1 Software Update Released [iTunes 8 Required]

Time to update those iPhones, everybody! Just as Steve promised, Software update 2.1 has been released. According to the Jobs, the update should solve most of the problems users have been having with the 2.x software so far, including crashing and poor reception quality.

Rumor: 2.1 Software To Launch This Tuesday

Ars Technica says they have word from the inside that Apple is expecting to launch iPhone Software version 2.1 on September 9th. Particularly interesting about the rumor is the claim that in addition to what is already known about 2.1, Apple withheld certain parts of the new OS from the developer seed in order to keep them a secret. On one hand, the news is exciting in that they may be hiding some cool new feature. On the other, they could also be something bad. We'll have to wait until Tuesday to find out.

Apple said that the latest 2.0.2 software update was supposed to help with the issue concerning dropped calls, but a report by Roughly Drafted explains in further detail what the issue may be.
