Vodafone Egypt, the soon-to-be official iPhone 3G carrier in the country, has now begun taking pre-regestrations for purchases of the iPhone 3G. The wireless company has posted a new page on their website offering potential customers the opportunity to register using their name, and are given the ability to chose their own phone number in advance.

In Germany
Vodafone has now banned that seeks to stop T-Mobile selling iPhones locked to its own network .
The German arm of Vodafone has obtained the order in a Hamburg court, where T-Mobile has the exclusive rights from Apple to sell the iPhone.
So, you need to research the different hacks available. You can't upgrade firmware though.

Another day, another 3G iPhone rumor; this time it’s that Vodafone will be simultaneously launching a 3G version of Apple’s cellphone in all its European markets come next Spring. The story, reported by Italian site Morse.IT, claims a UMTS version of the iPhone will be announced after Christmas (or possibly at the MacWorld Expo early next year) in order not to cannibalise 2.5G version sales over the holidays.ÂÂ

Is Vodafone really that cocky that they’d already start talking about negotiations for a deal with Apple upon the release of a 3G version? Well I guess they are as their CEO is quoted saying they would “absolutely†deal with Apple to carry the 3G version of the handset.

Apparently the biggest problem that Vodafone, and I would assume other carriers as well, have with Apple is the lopsidedness of the deal, Apple gets all the money from the sale of the handset, there can be no subsidies, Apple gets a percentage of the contracts for its iPhone. Furthermore there seems to be a pattern of Apple requiring special iPhone service plans with included unlimited data, and Apple completely controls the user side of things which means no carrier specific service can be added to the phone to help the carrier make more money.

The Samsung F700, now known as the Croix, thanks to a deal with Vodafone is quite the amazing device. It is purported to be targeted as an iPhone competitor, even though the Croix is everything the iPhone isn’t. A great alternative to the iPhone sure, but I don’t know how much of a direct competitor this phone will be. This amazing phone is so great that we don’t even need pricing or availability to give it praise, which is good, because we have neither, just some new info on a great phone.

Here are the specs in case you forgot, up to 7.2Mbps HSDPA, VibeTonz vibrating touchscreen to simulate tactile feedback, a 5MP camera with auto-focus, 2.78-inch touchscreen, QWERTY keypad, microSD card slot, a cam on the front for video conferencing, Bluetooth, and a Flash based user interface. The music formats that work aren’t too different either with the only addition being the two Real formats, the list is as follows though: MPEG4, H.263, H.264, Real MP3, AAC(+), eAAC+, and Real.
