Quicken for iPhone in January 2008
Developer of popular personal finance software Intuit, accounting for 80% of US marketshare according to NPD, announced plans to launch an iPhone-optimized subscription based mobile version of Quicken on January 8 2008.
The new Quicken for iPhone will be able to do most of what the desktop version can — it will allow users to download banking information, credit card charges and electronic bills, promising an easy set up for all of that.

The functionality of this particular version of Quicken is compared to the basic version of Intuit’s Quicken product line. Users will be able to balance checkbooks, review their spendings, and generally stay aware of the budget situation.
However, the iPhone optimized version will offer slightly less features than the regular Quicken web version — that’s due to the fact that Intuit wants to keep it easy for use on-the-go, and for optimization with iPhone’s screen.
It needs to be noted that Intuit also has plans for Blackberry and similar mobile devices’ support — but is not exactly sure when it will happen. According to the company an iPhone version is being released because Apple enthusiasts tend to be more open minded towards new technology.
The service is also aimed at younger consumers — people that don’t want to be bothered with buying and installing the regular version of Quicken on their computer. “Our first mission is to make sure we are solving the needs of people who are not currently using a personal finance solution,” said Intuit’s senior vice president Rick Jensen in an interview to Reuters.
