Recent price cut expected to boost iPhone sales and increase AT&T subscribers base

Lowering the price of iPhone by 1/3 can improve its selling figures significantly. According to UBS Research analysts iPhone sales can increase in total to 3 milllion by the end of 2007.

The new research changes UBS’s previous forecast of sales for the third and fourth quarter of this year.
The expected increase in sales for the third quarter of this year amounts to 100 000. According to UBS’s research the price cut should bring 500 000 more new customers in the fourth quarter of 2007.

AT&T’s benefit would be about 3.8 milion of new subscribers who - according to UBS - should account for 45% of the income generated by iPhone.
